I was cleaning off a bookshelf and found an old Victoria magazine from September 1989. That magazine used to be splendid, with many pages of ethereal photography and articles. They made too many changes so I no longer subscribe.

Anyway, I found an ad for Pleasant Company.
The ad shows a lovely, dreamy photo of a girl sitting on the floor by her bed, dressed in Kirsten's nightgown looking in Kirsten's trunk. Against the wall behind the girl is a big chair just like Kirsten's chair. Next to the girl is Kirsten sitting on her blue bed with Sari on her lap. Below the photo is an ad:

I love the "other delights" part of the ad. And the original logo is so sweet, the one with the silhouette of a girl lying on the floor reading a book with a doll next to her.

The latest "Wishes" catalog captures a bit of the magic that the old catalogs had. I don't want a catalog that's sole purpose is to sell me a product. I want a catalog that draws me into its magical world.
